The website ARTtube, a collective video channel for art and design in the Netherlands and Belgium, was launched on July 5. The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, M HKA in Antwerp, Gemeentemuseum The Hague, De Pont in Tilburg and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam will now be publishing videos on ARTtube about art and design. The videos, which are all in high quality, will generally be produced by the museums themselves, based on their own expertise.

David Blair is the third artist that the M HKA, in association with the curator Edwin Carels (KSK/HoGent), has invited to interact with the Vrielynck Collection. The basis is provided by The Telepathic Motion Picture of The Lost Tribes, an expansive research project that takes us in a flashback to the reconstruction of a lost film production in Manchuria, the doomed epic entitled The Lost Tribes.

James Turrell’s installations are usually site specific and demand of the viewer a certain degree of time in order to fully experience the ‘illusionistic’ effects of space and light. The relationship between these two elements are essential to this artist’s work. Turrell makes light visible by lending it a spatial, near tangible quality.

The Collection as a Character will reflect the current priorities of the M HKA collection: to evaluate the avant-garde tradition of Antwerp, to explore the new multi-polar world order, to discuss the nature of images today, to articulate the importance of the performative and the socialy-engaged in contemporary art.

The interior of the house and above all the fragility of its contents do not allow access of many visitors. However, it will be possible to visit the Panamarenko House from summer 2013 onwards. Every week a small group of maximum 8 people will be admitted, receiving a personalised guided tour. Due to the great success of the guided visits, we cannot accept any more reservations for 2013!
