[start to stop stopping]

In his 'social plastic', Gabriel Kuri (°1970, Mexico City) plays on themes such as consumer behaviour, human intercourse, transport and distribution and the orchestrated enthusiasm for the capitalist goods economy.

In the M HKA he has existing works –wall tapestries made on the basis of shop receipts, advertising brochures and discount vouchers– enter into a dialogue with works from the collection by Joseph Kosuth and Guy Mees. Through new installations with cleaning products and cleaning trolleys and a washing machine in action, he brings the day-to-day worries of life on the one hand and the economic reality of the museum as a social organism on the other hand into the 'hallowed' peace of museum rooms.
