Works from the Gordon Matta-Clark Foundation that dated from the ICC years initially formed the basis of that. Alongside this, the most important “sub-collections” are comprised of our own acquisitions and works given as permanent loans from the Flemish Community. Furthermore, we’ve also had many gifts – like that of Panamarenko who donated his restored premises on the Biekorfstraat along with its contents to the museum, or Luc Tuymans with his polaroids.

In recent years we’ve also collected art from regions with a rather unknown art-scene, like Central-Asia and Russia, the Maghreb, China and India.
