FOCUS: Architecture

Guided Tour, In depth

7 Feb 2027, 14:00 - 16:00

What will tomorrow’s world look like?

With T.O.P. office (Luc Deleu), we explore how modernist architecture imagines alternative futures. How do its underlying utopian ideas relate to the world we live in?

What is FOCUS?

One Sunday a month, we take a closer look at a theme in the work of Lee Bul. FOCUS takes place at Muhka during the exhibition Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now. Each guest brings a different perspective on her work through a performance, conversation or talk, drawing on their own practice. You then join a guide in the exhibition to look more closely at selected works.

About the theme

Lee Bul uses architecture to show how a society’s ideals change. Korea’s far-reaching transformations play a major part in this. For her, modernist architecture of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries stands for a belief in progress and utopian ideals, but also their flipside: control and uniformity.

About T.O.P. office and Luc Deleu

Through T.O.P. office, Luc Deleu works across architecture and art, from small interventions to ideas on a global scale. He challenges us to think about the space we occupy on our planet and what that means.
