Huisregels
We want to ensure that your visit is as inspiring as it is comfortable. That is why we have drawn up a number of house rules. Thank you for respecting them and helping to create a pleasant experience for everyone. Enjoy your visit to M HKA.
- Some parts of M HKA can be visited free of charge, such as the collection wing on the ground floor, M HKAFE (museum café) on the 4th floor, and the presentations on the 5th and 6th floors. For the In Situ presentation on the ground floor or the major exhibition on the 2nd floor, you need a valid admission ticket. Wear your admission sticker visibly.
- Bags, coats, umbrellas and water bottles are not allowed in the galleries and can be stored in a free locker (token available at the desk or with 1 euro) or left in the unattended group cloakroom.
- Make sure that pupils always stay with the adult(s) supervising them. Agree on a meeting point in advance in case someone gets separated from the group.
- Always follow the instructions of the museum staff.
- Works of art must not be touched.
- Running or shouting is not permitted.
- Eating and drinking are only permitted in the museum café, the dining room and on the roof terrace.
- M HKA invites you to talk about art. Please be mindful of other visitors and keep loud or disturbing noise to a minimum.
- Smoking is prohibited throughout the museum building. Smoking is allowed on the roof terrace, with the exception of the greenhouses and James Turrell’s Skyspace. This also applies to e-cigarettes.
- Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the exhibitions, with the exception of registered assistance dogs. Dogs are allowed on the roof terrace, in M HKAFE and on the top floor of the museum. Entrance via Leuvenstraat, stairs to M HKAFE.
- M HKA is easily accessible for people with disabilities. Aids such as wheelchairs, walking frames and walking sticks are allowed. All floors can be reached by lift, with the exception of the archive presentation, which can only be reached by stairs.
- M HKA has a number of wheelchairs available for loan with tyres suitable for the museum floor. These do not need to be reserved in advance.
- Pushchairs and buggies are allowed in the museum. Skateboards, scooters, roller skates and balance bikes are not.
- Do not touch any works of art and always keep a safe distance. In the Salon on the first floor, you can play and create. On the roof terrace on the 4th floor, you can catch your breath and stretch your legs.
- Photography or filming is only allowed without flash and without a tripod or selfie stick, and for personal use only. Please be mindful of other visitors. Photography or filming for promotional purposes without permission is not allowed.
- You may write or draw in the museum galleries, but only in pencil. It is not permitted to write on the walls or floors.
- Follow the rules that apply specifically to certain exhibitions or spaces. Sometimes there may be additional rules.
- If the museum has educational activities or interactive exhibitions, encourage children to take part in them, following the museum’s instructions.
- For your own safety and that of the works of art, we use CCTV surveillance.
- M HKA reserves the right to deny admission to the museum in the event of non-compliance with the house rules.
