About the exhibition
A year ago, S & W & … brought together existing work by eight visual artists inspired by the world of Suske & Wiske. The exhibition showed how the visual language and ideas of these Flemish comic-strip characters had shaped or inspired artists with very different practices.
For this second part, seven artists were invited to draw inspiration from Willy Vandersteen’s imagination:

- Kristof Santy
- Pei-Hsuan Wang
- Bram Demunter
- Shirley Villavicencio Pizango
- Sharon Van Overmeiren
Exploring the adventures of Suske & Wiske has inspired them to create works. These may take the form of a homage, commentary, critique, a playful nod or a combination of these.
The works enter into dialogue with one another and with an original design by Vandersteen for the 1953 album De Tartaarse Helm.
