Nav Haq appointed curator of Lahore Biennale 04 (spring 2027)
Nav Haq, curator and associate director at M HKA, has been appointed curator of the fourth edition of the Lahore Biennale (LB04) in Pakistan. The biennial opens in spring 2027 and will feature new commissions, large-scale installations, and an extensive public programme spread across the city. This appointment underscores M HKA’s strong international engagement.
Lahore, the capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province, has a rich history and a vibrant contemporary art scene. Drawing on this layered context, the biennial positions the city as a crucial node within global society. From Lahore, LB04 seeks to articulate its own worldview, in dialogue with broader national and Eurasian perspectives.
The Lahore Biennale places a strong emphasis on inclusivity, social engagement, and social transformation. For this fourth edition, the focus lies on the vitality of culture across borders and on the role of art in fostering new forms of solidarity and dialogue.

The appointment of our curator and associate director as curator of this edition highlights how deeply M HKA is embedded in international exchange and critical reflection. Over the past ten years, Nav Haq has curated numerous major exhibitions and international biennials. Last year, he was co-curator of the Kyiv Biennial.
As a curator, his work is grounded in questions of coexistence, justice, and a new, culture-driven internationalism. How can art build bridges in an increasingly complex, multipolar world? And how can institutions and exhibitions create space for other perspectives, narratives, and alliances? These questions are also central to M HKA’s mission.
