On Saturday 2 August, Muhka opens its doors from 7 PM to 1 AM for Museum Night – an evening full of art, music, and cosmic wonder.

FRONT ROW provides some of today’s most thought-provoking artists with the opportunity to reflect on art, culture, and society together with the audience.

Iman Issa explores how exhibitions convey meaning and how form and context shape our interpretation of history and identity. Her work invites critical reflection on established narratives.

The Research Summit comprises a series of artistic and discursive presentations, alongside moments of constructive reflection. It's an ambitious programme taking place in conjunction with M HKA’s exhibition 'The Geopolitics of Infrastructure'.

Marc Holthof, formerly Hugo Roelandt’s assistant, and Joanna Zielińska, curator and performance expert at M HKA, discuss the challenges of archiving ephemeral art.

In the 1970s and 80s, Hugo Roelandt created iconic performances such as the occupation of Groendalstraat (1981) in Antwerp and the Aeromatic Art Project (1983) with hovering model helicopters. Along with experts and students, we will investigate how we can reinterpret these performances.

Meet Cécile B. Evans. She is an American-Belgian artist living and working in Saint-Denis. Evans’ work examines the value of emotion and its rebellion as it comes into contact with ideological, physical, and technological structures. 

View Hugo Roelandt’s artistic practice through a different pair of eyes: Roger D’Hondt, the founder of the art space New Reform in Aalst and a per formance art curator, shares his experience of working with Hugo Roelandt for many years, the Performance Art Festival in Brussels and his participation with Roelandt in Documenta 6 in Kassel.

Guy Woueté is a multidisciplinary artist whose work critiques Western influence on Africa. In his talk, he explores how the Western worldview continues to shape artistic identity and practice.
